Winter Fair - What's on - Royal Welsh

The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society has played a leading role in the development of agriculture and the rural economy in Wales for over a century, since its formation in 1904.

Today our work includes providing support for business, social welfare and education in rural communities, and the organisation and staging of our ever-popular society events; the Royal Welsh Show and the Winter Fair.

We look forward to seeing you at the next Winter Fair from 30th November – 1st December 2026.

SHOWGROUND

The 150 acre Royal Welsh Showground is open all year round. We host an array of exciting events set against the spectacular views of the Welsh countryside.

The Showground boasts many different venues catering for a variety of occasions such as weddings, business meetings, conferences, concerts, exhibitions and much more.

Along with the usual packed schedule of competitions, classes, exhibitions and displays the two-day event will be packed full of festive celebrations including late night shopping and a fireworks display on the Monday evening.

Away from the judging rings the very best Welsh food producers showcase their produce and Christmas shoppers will be able to explore hundreds of tradestands.

A full programme of events is included in the catalogue, available at booths around the showground for £5.00.

Competitions

The Royal Welsh Winter Fair has a reputation for being one of the finest prime stock shows in the UK, if not Europe. Proud stockmen bring their prize animals from far and wide to compete for a chance to win a championship title and their share of the prize money up for grabs.

Alongside top-class livestock entries, visitors can enjoy a diverse range of attractions including equine competitions, expert butchery displays, homecrafts, the hound show, and a stunning floral art section.

With hundreds of competitions held throughout the two-days, there is something of interest for everyone.

Shopping

The Winter Fair is a perfect opportunity to pick up some unique and quality items from our wide range of agricultural products, home and giftware, arts & crafts, health and beauty, pet supplies, and much more.

Tradestands will be open into the evening on Monday 24th November for late night Christmas shopping.

Food and Drink

The Food Hall at the Winter Fair attracts producers from all over Wales and further afield and is packed full of culinary delights, demonstrations, Christmas gifts and tempting tasters.

The popular Gwledd | Feast area, located in the Shearing Shed, promises to be a vibrant hub of local Welsh street food, featuring everything from savoury bites to festive treats.

Come along, eat, drink and be merry!

Heavy Horses & Hounds

New for this year, a dedicated area in the Farriery Pavilion will showcase magnificent Heavy Horses alongside the Hound Show, which will be held in a marquee nearby.

Building on the hugely popular Heavy Horse Village first introduced by Caernarfon’s Ambassador Rhys Griffiths at the Royal Welsh Show, this exciting new feature will also include live farriery demonstrations and impressive displays – a must-see attraction.

Fireworks

The spectacular firework display is a firm favourite with Winter Fair guests. The perfect way to round off the first day of the event, gather up your family and friends to enjoy this fantastic highlight.

You can catch the display at 7:00pm on Monday 24th November – be sure not to miss it!

Musical Entertainment

Soak up the festive atmosphere at the Winter Fair with live musical entertainment across both days of the event! Enjoy a variety of performances at the Gwledd Stage in the Shearing Shed, featuring everything from local talent to lively seasonal favourites.

Whether you’re stopping for a quick listen or settling in for a full set, the music adds a magical soundtrack to your Winter Fair experience.

Santa’s Grotto

Come along and meet Santa Claus in his Grotto at the Winter Fair! He will be located in the Clock Tower, Tŷ Ynys Môn, near the Bandstand, on both days of the event.

Santa will be available on Monday, 24 November between 2:00pm – 3:30pm and 4:30 – 6:00pm and on Tuesday, 25 November between 11.00am – 12:30pm and 2:00pm – 3:30pm.

TV & Radio

S4C will be showing all of the action live across both days, with a highlights show each night. BBC Radio Cymru and Radio Wales provide live coverage from the showground throughout the event.
